Just remember: RAWR

I was looking through my ATOD hutch last week, and this letter popped out of nowhere! Reading this was something I really needed to re-inspire me to get my last fall semester at SJSU started.

Fall Semester 2010

Dear Ingrid,

At this point in your life you have accomplished so much. Who knew that you would be sitting in the ocho-ocho living room writing this letter to yourself (OMG, this is due in like 3 hours. You are such a procrastinator). You have done so many things you have wanted to do. Ever since college started you have been highly involved in Akbayan taking on roles such as being a LIFTED Intern, Public Relations Officer, Emceeing for Maboohay, being a part of the champion SJSU team for Friendship Games for the past 3 years, acting as major roles for PCN, and even more. Other than that, you are currently a Peer Health Educator on campus, which is something you have always wanted to be ever since freshman year. Oh yes, also remember the Cupcake club and where you are this point in this journey. You may not realize it now, but you are making a difference in people’s lives, and I am so glad that you switched over to ATOD (family for life!). I know that sometimes you like throwing what you have and sitting on the couch, but deep inside you are the type of person that never backs down on anything you commit to no matter what. You have learned at this point in the semester that people can trust you and that you always have their backs. You are someone that people rely on when they need a listening ear or some advice. When the day is down, you turn it up as soon as you walk into the room. I have noticed that ever since you moved out of your house. You smile more and focus on the positive things in life rather than all the bad things that could happen.

I hope by now, you still have that motivation of making your family proud. It’s only been a few months, but how times have gone by so fast. Please tell me that you applied for graduation and aren’t lagging in turning in those papers. I want you to have an internship by this Summer. I don’t really know what you want to have at this point by this summer. Maybe I am helping out people as a freshman orientation leader? Finally having my letters for Alpha Kappa Omicron? Working all summer for that money I need to pay for rent? Spending more time with my family? BOYFRIEND?! *chuckles* All I know is that I hope you’re happy with where you are at this point in life, which I know you are. Don’t let anything get in the way of your dreams and don’t forget the reason why you do what you do. You, my dear, are a very independent and strong woman, who no one can ever bring down no matter how hard they try. You never let anything get in your way.

Here are a few things I hope you do for next semester. Please don’t overwhelm yourself with work, school, and extracurricular activities like you always do. I know you. You probably are not going to follow this lovely piece of advice, but I love you anyways. I know that you always find a way to manage your time wisely. Just remember to have a day in the week that is only made for you. Be a couch potato! Watch television or catch up with some friends and family. You honestly deserve relaxing moments, for real. Also, make that massage chair appointment you never made. You have been planning that all semester long!
